The architecture of a test environment for Real-Time Control Systems was established for a major client.  This commenced with an investigation of all types of existing and planned control equipment (RTU, Substation Processors, Protection Relays and other related IEDs) and how to set these out for testing.

Tesla Consultants was subsequently engaged to provide design and manage the implementation of a stand-alone test facility, set up in a large transportable building, housing d.c. supplies, and multiple equipment cabinets. The facility allows simple patching of both copper and fibre serial data and Ethernet connections between every device, allowing simulated setups of field deployments for thorough concept testing.
