To provide the additional electric power supply requirements of a third milk drier, Alpine Energy installed a second 2 x 25 MVA 33/11 kV substation at the Clandeboye dairy factory site. To meet supply security requirements the two 33 kV overhead circuits supplying the existing Clandeboye 2 x 20 MVA 33/11 kV substation were reconnected, one each to the existing and new substations.

Two new 33 kV underground cable circuits were installed from the Temuka Grid Exit Point to Clandeboye and one each connected to the old and new Clandeboye Substations. Tesla Consultants provided conceptual and detailed protection designs, including protection settings, for the Temuka-Clandeboye 33/11 kV systems including line, transformer, feeder and 11 kV busbar protection.
